Life as a minister can be difficult. Not only with elements of the local church, non-profit organization or ministry (i.e. youth, children, choir, worship leading, etc.). But it is also difficult personally because on the personal side of things, living in the "fishbowl," splitting time between family and ministry, raising children with a Christian world-view, and trying to focus on God personally while being a Godly example to others.

This ministers' retreat at Twin Pines is to help you personally in your ministry. It is not another how to minister, or here's the latest leadership ministry approach, or new approach to interpret Scripture. Rather, it will be a time for you to refresh yourself spiritually, to help you minister to your family, to guide you in being who God has called you to be in your life.

The theme for this year's retreat to help ministers personally is "Why we are not ourselves?" The Gospel of John will be the basis for the beneficial concepts addressed.

The Twin Pines Ministers' Retreat will feature Dr. Anthony (Tony) Blair as the speaker. Tony Blair has served simultaneously in both the academy and the church for the past two decades. He began pastoral ministry with the Church of the United Brethren in Christ in 1985 and serves today as a senior pastor of Hosanna! A Fellowship of Christians in Lititz, Pennsylvania.

Tony has authored or co-authored several books, including Leading Missional Change: Move Your Congregation from Resistant to Re-Energized (2012, with Paul J. Dunbar), Church and Academy in Harmony: Models of Collaboration for the Twenty-First Century (2010), Fire Across the Water: Transatlantic Dimensions of the Eighteenth Century Presbyterian Revivals (2010), and Minimizing the Stress of Adult Accelerated Education (2009, with Mary Boylston). He has also had articles published in a variety of academic journals.

Tony is a current or past member of the Evangelical Theological Society, the International Leadership Association, the American Academy of Religion, the Academy of Management, the American Scientific Affiliation, and the Academy of Religious Leadership. He has presented frequently at academic and professional conferences, and has occasional opportunities to lead seminars or workshops.

Tony and his wife Carol reside in Lititz, Pennsylvania. They have two daughters, Rachel and Alia.
