2018 Minister's Retreat

Minister's Retreat

October 23-25, 2018

Life as a minister can be difficult. Not only with elements of the local church, non-profit organization or ministry (i.e. youth, children, choir, worship leading, etc.). But it is also difficult personally because on the personal side of things, living in the "fishbowl," splitting time between family and ministry, raising children with a Christian world-view, and trying to focus on God personally while being a Godly example to others.

This ministers' retreat at Twin Pines is to help you personally in your ministry. It is not another how to minister, or here's the latest leadership ministry approach, or new approach to interpret Scripture. Rather, it will be a time for you to refresh yourself spiritually, to help you minister to your family, to guide you in being who God has called you to be in your life.

The theme for this year's retreat to help ministers personally is "More than a Minister." The sessions will focus on: the importance of relationships in the ministry, the importance of loving our flock, how to prioritize family first, and what it means to demonstrate servant leadership.

Wil Martin currently serves as the part-time Teaching and Visitation Pastor of Grace Community Church in Willow Street.  He was pastor of Evangelical Congregational churches in Pennsylvania at Mt. Culmen, Clark’s Valley, Boyertown, Lancaster Grace and most recently, was the founding pastor of Grace Community in Willow Street, which he served until his semi-retirement in 2011.  At the 2017 National Conference of the E. C. Church, Wil was honored for his 50 years of pastoral ministry with E. C. credentials.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Millersville University and his Master of Divinity degree from the Evangelical School of Theology in Myerstown, PA.

Growing up in New Holland, he is married 53 years to his high school sweetheart, Barbie Eberly, who is employed part-time by the McDonald’s fast food chain in Lancaster.  She has been a valued helper in their years of ministry together.  They have two married children and five grandchildren.  Wil is passionate about seeing people grow in their Christian walk so that day-by-day they reflect more and more Christlike characteristics in their lives.  He genuinely loves people and finds great satisfaction in seeing people grow in their walk with the Lord as they live authentic lives for Him.  In his spare time he loves to read, garden and golf, as well as spend time with his grandchildren and “hang out” at the beach whenever possible.
